It's still early January, so this post is barely late at all!

Here's what I made in 2011!

List with pictures under the cut! )

So what's the plan for this year?

1. Rebel Pilots for Rogue & me
2. At least one and hopefully more historical dresses & underpinnings! I have fabric for 18c, Regency, and mid-1800s. I feel like I should make a 19-teens dress, too, even though I don't love the style, because a) everyone is doing it, and b) HELLO DOWNTOWN ABBEY OBSESSION.
3. Superhero/princess mashup (maybe?)
4. Whatever we do for SDCC Masquerade
5. Ravenclaw robe
6. Amber's USO Girl
7. Possibly Pink Power Ranger for a D*C group?

Before I dive into my Obsessively Detailed Recaps, I thought I'd do a costume round-up post from this year's D*C.

The final tally was nine costumes, with three con debuts (Annie, USO Girl, Ravenclaw student). In order of wearing:

1. Wedding Dress
2. Annie, from Community (episodes "A Fistfull of Paintballs" and "For a Few Paintballs More")
3. Hawkgirl, as part of the Renaissance Justice League
4. Captain America USO Girl
5. Elizabeth Swann, POTC plum dress
6. "Gaga" Quinn, from Glee (episode "Theatricality")
7. Ravenclaw student, Harry Potter
8. Penny, The Big Bang Theory
9. Suki (Fire Nation disguise), Avatar: the Last Airbender

Many many pictures all under the cut! )

I just checked back through my LJ, and apparently I didn't do one of these last year! Boo on me!

So here's what I made in 2010!

List with pictures underneath the cut! )

Plans for 2011:
1. Something historical. 18c, Regency, 1860s-- I'm not sure which yet, but I've got fabric for all.
2. I badly want to do a Community group at D*C. I think we could rock their Halloween costumes. ([livejournal.com profile] lordofhaladin would make the most amazing PeggyFleming!Chang ever, amirite?)
3. Whatever we end up doing for SDCC Masq.
4. Fire Nation Suki, and finish Rogue's Piandao. Legend of Korra is coming this fall, so this SDCC should be pretty big, ATLA-wise.
5. Sekrit group costume Brittany S. Pierce as Britney Spears from her "Toxic" video. Even more nude-colored mesh and rhinestones!
6. Sekrit costume for [livejournal.com profile] barbossas_wench's group.
7. Actual Renaissance Hawkgirl! Not that [livejournal.com profile] aviendiora's dress wasn't amazing!
8. Whatever costumes Rogue wants/needs.
9. ETA: How did I forget this??? RAPUNZEL.
10. Whatever comes up!

When I put together my Penny costume for WonderCon, I made a Pennyblossom to go with it. (For non-Big Bang Theory watchers: in a second-season episode, Penny starts making sparkly flower barrettes, called Pennyblossoms, and wants to turn it into a business. The boys get involved, and hilarity ensues.) The show actually put up a fake Pennyblossoms website, featuring the greatest gift you can give to an accuracy-obsessed costumer: a big, clear picture of the actual hair clip.

In order to buy enough supplies to make one Pennyblossom, I basically had to buy enough to make 20. So I decided to make a few from what I had left over and put them up for sale on Etsy. I figured they might be fun, subtly geeky things for people to wear, especially to something like Comic-Con or Dragon*Con.

So-- my store, Bright Copper Penny, is open for business! :) The pictures below link to the different barrettes I currently have up. I have more flowers and rhinestones that I haven't made up yet, so I could do custom orders as well. Feel free to link around if you know someone who might be interested!

I'm posting a con report less than a week after the con ended? WHAT IS THIS CRAZINESS!?

So yeah! We went to WonderCon for the first time ever, yay! We've wanted to go for years but the timing just hasn't worked out. This year the timing was still not spectacular, what with it being Easter weekend and Baby Donut's birthday, but we'd committed to go and so we did, and I'm really glad we did because it was ~AWESOME.~

I wore four costumes this time: Yvaine, Penny from The Big Bang Theory, my Rebel cheerleader, and the Bowler from Mystery Men. (Our Masquerade skit this year was MM-themed and there were actually 8 of us dressed as identical Bowlers!) After Dragon*Con, having only one suitcase apiece seemed so...strange. We did, however, forget our camera, so most of the pics I'm linking to are Corli's; a few are Glenn's, and a few are Jess's husband Scott's. All the tiny pictures can be clicked to be embiggened.

Exhaustive details, many many pictures, and Masquerade video under the cut! )

And to close this post-- HUGE CRAZY MASSIVE THANKS to Corli for opening her home to us, driving us to and from the con every day, choreographing a fantastic and fun skit, and putting in so much work on the Bowler costumes. Now I have one, and I didn't have to do anything to get it! (You bet your ass we're bringing these to D*C this year!) Much love to all my fellow Mystery Men-- thanks for making our first WonderCon so great for us.
